Bordeaux, Cognac and More | France

After Paris, we spent a lovely week in the Southwest region of France. We took the train down to Soyaux where we stayed for a wedding and rented a car for day trips – an absolute must if you want to explore the region.

Soyaux is a little town in the Southwest where we stayed in a beautiful chateau for a wedding. From our base, we were able to explore the beautiful little towns in the region.

We went to Cognac for a little day trip on one of the days in the region. It’s a beautiful little town, perfect for Cognac lovers. We took a tour of the Chateau de Cognac which was great fun and we even saw the cellars.

Brantôme

Brantôme was another little day trip we took during our time. Its Abbey is the main feature of the little town and we had a lovely time walking around the alleyways of the town.

After all our little day trips and the beautiful wedding, we left and headed down to Bordeaux. The Promenade Sainte Catherine is the longest shopping strip in Europe and we definitely spent a few hours exploring the strip. We stayed in the old town which was a beautiful choice. There were so many restaurants and bars scattered along the old cobbled streets.

And with that, the France portion of our trip was done! Stay tuned for a few more stops in Europe.
