Paris + Disneyland | France

Our next stop on the Europe trip was the beautiful city of Paris. The city is a great place to walk around and the Metro is fantastic to use. You have the option to buy multi-tickets for the Metro and I highly recommend – you will likely be using the Metro to get everywhere.

While we were in Paris, we also took a few day trips – one to the Palace of Versailles, and another to Disneyland!

We stayed in the 7th Arrondissement where the Eiffel Tower is situated. On our first afternoon in Paris, we wandered down to the Eiffel Tower and walked through the park. It’s gorgeous at night and every hour on the hour, the lights on the tower sparkle! There is a lot of debate surrounding the best area to stay in Paris, but as a first timer in Paris, I found the 7th Arrondissement was a great area to stay. It is busy, a bit touristy near the Eiffel Tower, and we were right on the Metro which made getting around a breeze.

The city is full of rivers, bridges, and alley ways to wander through. There are endless cafes and restaurants lining the rivers, and the area of La Marais was fantastic for shopping.

The city of Paris is so historic and has so many attractions to visit. The Notre Dame is a beautiful old Cathedral in Paris. Top tip: go around the back of the Cathedral – the architecture is amazing at the back!

Next we ventured to La Conciergerie which is a medieval prison that held Marie Antoinette before her execution. The architecture and history is incredible in the prison and definitely worth a visit.

The Louvre is an absolute must on your first trip to Paris. The grounds themselves are amazing and the museum has a wide range of exhibits, including the Rosetta stone and Cleopatra’s sarcophagus. After you get your fill of culture and history, head to the  Carrousel du Louvre – an underground shopping centre connected to the Louvre.

The Arc de Triomphe is an amazing site and I highly recommend climbing it if you have the chance. We ran out of the time and it’s the one thing I regret missing out on – I’ve heard that the view is amazing and you can also see the Eiffel Tower.

We bought the Paris Museum Pass which I wouldn’t recommend during peak times. It doesn’t offer fast tracked lines or entry to the Palace of Versailles – you may as well just pay as you go as it isn’t cheap to buy. The city has so much to offer so just do a bit of research or you can even just walk around and see what you stumble upon!

On our little day trip away from the city we spent the day recapturing our childhood in Disneyland! It was such a fun day to relax and enjoy the vibe. It’s a pretty magical place with Disney-like music playing down all the streets and heaps of attractions. If you have kids, it’s an absolute must – they’ll love it. Even if you don’t, it’s so fun anyway! And it’s a short train ride from the city – it only took us an hour.
